Messaging: How To Message All Students In The Course
Moodle is a quick and easy way to send a message to all of your students. Knowing how to message all students would be useful if, for example, you need to announce a change in an assignment or a due date.
Messaging Options
There are two options to message all of the students in your course:
News Forum
Students will receive an email notification when you post a message in the News Forum. The post will also be within the course’s News Forum for the duration of the course.
Moodle Messaging
You can send a message to one or multiple students. Students will receive an email message if they are not logged in to the portal when the message is sent. They will receive a notification within Moodle the next time they log in to Moodle. Students will receive only a notification within Moodle if they are online when the message is sent. Moodle users have the option to alter these settings in their profile.
Messaging through the News Forum
- Access the News forum in your course.
- Click Add a new topic.
- Enter a subject and message for your students; both fields are required.
